Wrestling

No-Gi, also known as submission wrestling, is essentially Brazilian Jiujitsu with less rules, no Gi [the outfit] and a lot faster paced. Since modern athletes do not wear their Gi's into the Cage, it is important to train without it. Many gyms train almost exclusively with the Gi, and while we feel that the Gi is an invaluable training tool, we also feel that this training methodology is fundamentally flawed.

This program covers wrestling based takedowns, where as BJJ utilizes Judo style takedowns. Also, due to the differing rules, we cover a huge number of LegLock submissions, most of which are completely illegal in Gi competitions, even at black belt!

Not only are grappling classes great fun, they are an amazing workout. Many people who can't stand traditional fitness activities, or sports in general, find grappling to be an incredibly immersive mental exercise that has the added bonus of being an incredible workout.

FAQ:

1. Will I be able to keep up?

Yes, all of our classes are designed with a progressive development philosophy. You will be grouped with people who will help you grow, not hinder you and you will be taught tecniques that you can handle at your level.

2. Do I have to compete?

Absolutely not, the majority of people train for fun or fitness, not to compete. In our experience most people will end up competing at least once when they are ready.

3. Do I have to buy gear?

Eventually yes. But until then [such as during your trial] we have gear for you to take class with. Once you decide to buy your own gear you will find the cost to be a minimal investment.
